Top Wedding Stationery Trends for 2022

Hello!

I will start this blog post with the preface of the Last Colour Down ethos being one of individuality, doing what YOU want for your wedding and what suits you and your partner. This means that I’m loathe to chat about trends! However, certain styles experience a rise in popularity in any given year, sometimes due to popular culture (think hit TV shows or films in the last year) or celebrity weddings, for example Mandy Moore’s Rodarte pink wedding dress in 2018, or Lily Collins Ralph Lauren lace cape from her 2021 wedding. So I’ve done the hard work and research for you, and collated the top 5 most predicted trends for 2022. Read on below to see if any of these catch your eye….

1. QR COdes

This is a random one, I’ll admit, but QR codes are tipped to be a rising trend for 2022. I feel like QR codes were around years ago, no one knew how to use them, they faded and are now back in a BIG way! When you consider the accessibility and ease of QR codes, it’s kind of a no brainer if you are including a digital element to your wedding stationery suite. I know you are thinking of those big blocky black and white rectangles, don’t worry, there is always a way to make them look classy!

2. Reception only invitations

This one is most definitely a result of the Covid pandemic, but one that looks to be staying for a while. Prior to the pandemic, ‘evening only’ invitations were popular, but as restrictions are in a constant state of flux and with wedding guest numbers consistently changing, more couples are opting for a smaller ceremony, with a bigger reception at a later date.

3. Unique shapes and Sizes

A personal favourite trend of mine! I love seeing uniquely shaped invitations or layered printed items used in weddings. What I love most about unusual shapes for wedding stationery is the element of surprise it gives your guests. Everyone is excepting a beautifully designed, usually rectangle invitation, and when they pull out a half arch or circle, it’s a ‘wow’ moment for sure! I carry several different shapes in my Luxe Collection, including a half arch, full arch and circle, which you can shop here

4. standout envelopes

More and more couples are opting to customise their envelope, for the extra level of personalisation. For example, choosing a brightly coloured envelope as opposed to a neutral one will really build the excitement with your guests as soon as their post arrives! Other options to customise your envelope include a printed or embossed monogram on the flap, or even an eye-catching design for your guests addresses.

5. Digital Invites and Save the Dates

Although digital stationery has been around for years, this one’s popularity for 2022 can be also attributed to the Covid pandemic. Eradicating printing times, a digital invitation or save the date is the way to go if you feel your guest numbers may change at a later date. It gives you the maximum amount of time to make a decision, based on whatever restrictions you may be dealing with at any given time. If you have the awful job of having to uninvite some guests, please see my helpful blog post on wording this here
