Top Wedding Stationery Trends for 2021

Hello!

2021 is finally upon us! A new year and a fresh start, despite much of the world still battling COVID-19. One of my favourite things to do at the beginning of each year is to plan out my business goals and aspirations. Predicting what will be top of every couples’ wedding stationery wish list comes into this, while I plan new collections for the year and research for my custom clients. While trends tend to come and go, when compiling this list, I tried to choose trends that will have a lasting effect, instead of focusing on flash in the pan fads. Your wedding stationery is one of the only items from your wedding that lasts long past the actual day, so you want something that is of the time, but also timeless. Not a tall order! Items such as Change the Date cards will (hopefully) only be a trend for this year, and won’t see us into 2022, but they are handy to have! Other ‘trends’ like eco-conscious options for the wedding industry, I feel are here to stay. So, have a read, and let me know if you have any trends for 2021 that you are looking forward to seeing.

1. Lilac

We all know millennial pink was THE colour for the last few years, but lilac is making a comeback! This soft purple could make a lovely alternative to blush pink, particularly with wedding stationery. We all know millennial pink was THE colour for the last few years, but lilac is making a comeback! Before, when I thought of purple for a wedding, it brought back images of weddings that my parents attended in the eighties – teamed with shoulder pads and too many ruffles, it was not a good look! I’m talking about soft pastel lilac, which could make a lovely alternative to blush pink, particularly with wedding stationery. Apparently, lilac is known for creating soothing environments, which is perfect for your wedding day! See across for some lilac inspiration for your wedding day.

2. Change the Dates

As COVID-19 continues to disrupt weddings all over the world, Change the Date cards are here to stay! It’s crazy to think that before COVID-19, changing the date of your wedding was relatively unheard of, and now its commonplace to change the date not only once, but several times. These little stationery items have been so important in the last year, notifying guests of necessary changes to the wedding, while still keeping it classy. You can shop my Change the Date cards here, or get in touch with me to design a custom Change the Date card.

3. Eco Conscious

I’ll be honest and say that the wedding industry can sometimes not be the most eco-friendly industry out there. However that is changing, as couples are more conscious of the environment when making choices for their wedding. Everything from where the food is sourced, to re-purposing flowers, to 100% recycled paper. In terms of stationery, the demand for 100% recycled paper, vegetable based inks and seeded paper has grown hugely in the last year, and I expect this to continue.

4. Minimalist

This minimalist ‘trend’ is less a trend and more a way of life! I’ve always been an advocate of minimalism in wedding stationery – it’s what Last colour Down is built upon. I’m a firm believer in less is more, so minimalist wedding stationery is kinda my thing.

5. Pink and red

Pink and red is making a statement this season! These striking colours together say so much, while still keeping it classy. Red on pink can go maximalist or stay low key, depending on how you use it in your colour scheme.
