High Fashion Shoot at Angelina’s

Earlier this year, I was invited to take part in a very exciting shoot, for the ultra cool venue, Angelina’s, in Dublin, co-ordinated by the talented Lena of Lena Freitag Weddings. The brief for the shoot was high fashion, editorial vibes, with lots of flash photography and high contrast.

For the stationery, we went with a contrasting colour palette of black, white and burgundy, with a typography library of a swooping script font and an ultra modern sans-serif block font. I incorporated a custom floral line illustration to tie in with the florals used on the day, and to soften harshness of the colour palette. For the invitation suite, I designed an invitation, details card, RSVP card, custom monogram, envelope with the monogram embossed on the flap, and a matching envelope liner. I wanted the typography to feel classic and luxurious, yet still have a modern twist. I used large type to make a statement with the fonts, incorporating a mix of script and block fonts. Digital white ink is notoriously difficult to work with, and I wanted the white to really stand out on the ebony paper, so I chose a double hit of white hot foil to ensure that the white was ultra bright against the black.

For the day-of stationery, I designed a menu, floral shaped place card, roll-up signage including a table plan and welcome sign that sat on tall white plinths, a pizza box with the couple’s monogram, a wedding newspaper and bar signage. We wanted to add in a few items that are not typically thought of in traditional on the day stationery, hence the wedding newspaper and pizza boxes!

As a stationer, I work on my own A LOT, so getting out of my studio and meeting fellow wedding suppliers is really important to me, particularly for inspiration. This shoot ticked all those boxes, and the comradery on set was so warm and welcoming, with everyone just doing what they are best at, and shining in their respective fields. Claudia, Emily, Aoife and Elle captured the day, both in front or, and behind the camera so beautifully. The results speak for themselves!
